5 Spiritual Lessons to Navigate the Coronavirus

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that we are collectively going through some serious sh*t right now. I’m going to be offering you some tips and some pieces of advice along with a couple of exercises that you can do to help you navigate your way through the COVID-19 global pandemic while remaining as grounded as possible.

I was watching A Wrinkle In Time with my boys this afternoon (we were supposed to be homeschooling which lasted for all of approximately 22 minutes) and there was one line that stuck out more than anything else in that movie. Oprah says,

“All of those that are willing to face the darkness bring the best of themselves to the light for the world.”

We are collectively being faced with darkness - it is up to us to bring the best of ourselves to the light for the world. We’re experiencing a full spectrum of emotions ranging from fear to isolation to anxiety to gratitude and even contentment.

Gratitude and contentment?!

Yes.

If you can practice these tips that I'm about to deliver - these things that aren’t being mentioned in the media - then you are going to be able to experience gratitude and contentment as well.

Taking Back Our Sovereignty

Many of us have forgotten that we have the power of free will, otherwise known as our sovereignty. Now more than ever, it’s time to take our power back because when we are not in control of our own free will that means that we're in survival mode. When we are placed in survival mode, we begin to react to everything. Our stabilization right now is truly vital.

The narrative of what’s going on right now has put people into a constant state of fear and when we are steeped in fear, we are entering survival mode. Instead of being able to rely on our instincts when we are stable, we are relying on our impulses and reacting to situations.

During periods of time where things feel uncertain, we all respond differently. We want to hear different things:

  1. Some want to read about the fear because then it's validating their own and they know they aren’t alone in their fear.

  2. Others want to know that everything is okay.

Yours vs. the Collective

While the collective is buzzing like it is, it can be really difficult to identify with what you need and what you are actually feeling vs. what others are needing and feeling as part of the collective consciousness. As empaths and lightworkers, we tent to pick up on other people’s emotions.

Have you ever noticed that you may be feeling fine one day and then quite literally overnight you could wake up feeling completely anxious. What the hell happened?! That's because we are becoming finely attuned to what’s going on collectively.

Now that we have covered some basics, are you ready to be given some of my best tools from my toolbox? 👇🏻

1. Embrace the fact that something much deeper is going on.

It’s time to embrace the fact that’s something much deeper than just surface level what you can see is going on. I want you to remain open to the idea that we are experiencing a pivotal moment in Earth's ascension. The frequency of this planet as we speak is changing. If you are reading this, then I’m sure you are feeling it too. Am.I.Right?

2. Disconnect from the collective panic.

Find stillness. The more each of us can take care of ourselves and do what we need to do to feel empowered and present, the more others will be able to tap into that as well. When I say disconnect from the collective, I mean cut the cord of connection to the collective panic.

You’ve got business owners that are freaking out because they don't know whether or not they should be selling to their audiences. You've got businesses that are closing, people being laid off, parents now needing to stay home to homeschool their children and we have the economy that is beginning to suffer as a result of everything.

Here’s the reality. That is all based and grounded in fear. How often are you being given the tools by the media to pull yourself out of that? I’m going to give you those tools below.

3. Positivity, just like the virus, is contagious.

Positivity is contagious. Social distance yourself from all the things, but we also need human connection and we need compassion now more than ever.

Spreading love is always going to be an answer and solution to help ease the tension, anxiety, and worry. What do simple acts of love look like?

  • Smile at your neighbor

  • Call a friend that is really struggling

  • Support a local business if you can to help them stay afloat

  • Make a donation to the local food bank

  • Leave some damn toilet paper for the next person

If you’re feeling nervous to be of service, just remember this:

It is singlehandedly the quickest way for you to get out of your head and to get out of the trauma loop that is playing like the theme song of Bubble Guppies on repeat because your children have sucked the life out of you and the thought of shutting the TV off is physically painful.

Make yourself available to do small acts of kindness. This all goes without saying though, that you need to put your own mental health and stability above all else.  Sharing acts of kindness is only if you have the mental bandwidth. Some days are going to be good, some days are not gonna be so good. If you’re having a good day and you have the bandwidth to do it, reach out a digital hand and just be a good human.

4. Stop the stress by getting some rest.

When our stress hormones are in overdrive, our body very quickly becomes tired. The best way you can combat this AND boost your immunity AND remain grounded is to make sure you are getting sufficient sleep.

Obviously for all my parents that are are at home with their kids like me and just keeping them alive through all of this deserves a daily medal, taking a nap can seem like the furthest possibility from your reality. I get it.

Instead, try to go to sleep a little bit earlier. Sleep is going to be your secret weapon to staying grounded. When you aren’t running on E physically and energetically because you are so stressed, you are going to remain present in the now.

5. Find Your Life Vest.

When everything is crashing down around you, what is that one thing you can do that's going to bring you back to solid ground?

This looks different for everyone, but some life vest things are:

  • Going outside and just being under the Sun

  • Being able to put your feet into the ground and the grass

  • Sitting near water

  • Taking a salt bath

  • Going for a walk in the woods

  • Playing with your dog

  • Meditation

  • Listening to your favorite song

Your life vest is going to look different than the next person’s, but I want you to think about this. Truly. What is one thing that you can do that will always, always, always bring you back to reality. Help keep you grounded.

The reason I can’t stress identifying your life vest enough is because when we are stuck in a trauma loop and we feel unsafe and are overcome with worry, anxiety, and fear - we can’t think straight and this is when we go into survival mode. In times of uncertainty and crises, the last thing you want to do is be reactive.

Your Wounds Will Resurface

Trauma isn't linear. It’s not like it happens and then it just leaves our consciousness forever. As much as those of us that experienced trauma WISH it would just fade from memory forever, it doesn’t work like that.

When we have experienced trauma of ANY kind in our life, and then feel threatened later in life in any form (but especially in times of uncertainty like with COVID-19), we experience those wounds once again. Those old feelings of pain and worry and panic rise to the surface and become reactivated if they haven’t fully been healed.

When our fight or flight response is triggered (hello, COVID-19), we literally disconnect from everything...

  • We disconnect from our higher self.

  • We disconnect from our body.

Why? Because we're trying to protect ourselves from being RE-hurt. So how do you combat this? By remaining as present in your body as possible.

The story we tell, is the story we live.

If we perpetuate the "I'm doomed!” Or “The sky is falling” narrative then we are actually giving those thought forms energy. We’re ACTIVELY helping that line of thought to grow. We're helping bring that into existence.

Now I’m not saying you can’t honor what you are feeling and experiencing. But you can honor your emotions while setting your sights on the vision of:

  • Healing

  • Peace

  • Presence

  • Stillness

Have you been purposely not been watching the news? Are you being selective with the information that you consume? We can tell a story that moves beyond the the mainstream narrative and messaging that has quite literally been molding and programming us to imagine the worst case scenarios.

You need to be aware, but you can do that with a filter over the information you are consuming. Otherwise, you will very quickly find yourself in survival mode and remember, that is not the place you want to be in at the moment.

The more that you can plug into this empowered action taking that I'm talking about, the more fear dissipates and the better you’ll feel overall. And the better you feel, the better your immune system functions. And the better your immune system functions, the bigger middle finger we can give to COVID-19!

It is time to ask yourself some profound questions:

  1. What are you meant to be learning from this experience?

  2. How are you going to become stronger?

  3. How is it that you are going to be of service to the collective and to others during this Ascension process?

How to Disconnect from the Collective Panic

I want you to imagine a cord of white light coming from your heart and it's an attached to a bubble floating three feet in front of you. This bubble is the collective fear. I want you to imagine yourself holding a pair of scissors and I want you to cut that cord. You are cutting yourself off from the collective fear. You are disconnecting from that energy.

Now I want you to also imagine a cord of white light coming from your forehead or your third eye that is connected to a bubble floating a couple feet in front of you. This bubble is filled with all of the interactions that you've had with your family, with your friends, with your neighbors, with the news, and with social media over the past few weeks. I want you to imagine yourself cutting this cord as well. You are disconnecting from everything that is not yours.

Remember:

  • You are exactly where you’re supposed to be.

  • You are more powerful than you give yourself credit for.

Holding onto these two facts is going to help you rise above the fear that is blanketing the ground right now. It is time to rise above the fog and head towards the clouds. You cannot see through fog, but you can always see clearly once you’re above the clouds.
